Naily Nevarez is a multidisciplinary designer, an interdisciplinary artist, and a social justice advocate based in Portland, Oregon. Her work has led her to collaborate and work with startups, non-profits, and institutions including but not limited to Nike Valiant Labs, Detention Watch Network, CareMessage, and The Cru. Selected from across 6 countries, she was selected as 1 of 25 fellows to participate in the John Lewis Fellowship, a program from Humanity in Action in partnership with the National Center for Civic and Human Rights. One of her most recent projects, Wavering Stripes (waveringstripes.com), reveals the injustice of immigration detention through the symbolism of an American flag.

Naily believes those who tell powerful stories shape culture and those who shape culture, shape politics. Passionate about positive social change, she creates art to tell stories that culturally resonate. As Maya Angelou once said, “[people] may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
