Abi Jones leads a team of designers and researchers in Google AI Healthcare, an organization that works across a variety of medical specialities to dramatically improve the availability and accuracy of medical services. Most recently the team has focused on diabetic retinopathy and breast cancer. Prior to joining Google’s research arm, Abi co-founded a startup within Area 120, Google’s internal incubator, and led design for products in Google’s Security & Privacy, Fiber, and Search teams. Her long-term focus is collaborative tools for people using machine-learning systems. Before joining Google, Abi designed products and services for MySpace, Ferrari, Samsung, and StubHub.
A longtime advocate of equity in education, Abi started her career as a 3rd grade teacher in the Rio Grande Valley as a Teach For America Corps member and now sits on the Board of Directors for the Santa Cruz Education Foundation.
Abi holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Design & Development from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Seattle University.
