Sheryl Cababa is the author of Closing the Loop: Systems Thinking for Designers. She is also the Chief Strategy Officer at Substantial, a digital design and build consultancy based in Seattle. She is a multi-disciplinary designer with more than two decades of experience and has worked with companies and organizations such as Microsoft, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and IKEA. She specializes in developing tools and methods for designers to expand their mindsets beyond user-centred design, anticipate unintended consequences, and engage in systems thinking. She is also an educator, teaching at the University of Washington’s Department of Human-Centred Design and Engineering, and facilitating workshops around the world.
